Positive Choices 4 Life is created as an alternative sentencing program for teens who can benefit from practical lessons in injury prevention. The leading cause of death in teens is accidents (unintentional injuries). According to the CDC, one-third of all deaths is due to motor vehicle crashes and overdoses. A new trend among teens is vaping. According to the NIH vaping devices are popular and the most commonly used form of nicotine among youth in the United States. The new trend is vaping marijuana and presents a new group of health concerns including serious lung injury and in a few cases death. This is a 2 ½ hour class taught by professional staff with a background in injury prevention. Parents are encouraged to attend as well as siblings at no additional charge.
